Dinosaur Designs collaborates with Toni Maticevsk and Romance Was Born
Chances are you’ve seen those bold, resin jewellery pieces that were the brainchild Dinosaur Designs. The Australian design company dates back to 1985 when it was formed by Louise Olsen, Stephen Ormandy and Liane Rossler, who met as students at City Art Institute.
The trio started selling pieces of fimo jewellery at Sydney’s Paddington Market. The following year, the young designers started experimenting with painted resin and by 1988 Louise, Stephen and Liane were employing staff to help with their production, while exporting to the United States for the first time.
Fast forward to 2015 and Dinosaur Designs has collaborated with Romance Was Born for their Cooee Couture Collection and Toni Maticevski for his FW15 Collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Sydney.
Louise’s collaboration with Romance Was Born marked the Sydney fashion label’s 10 year anniversary. The collection centred around large, sculptural, hand-made pieces.
Meantime, Dinosaur Designs collaborated with Toni Maticevski for a second time to create an exclusive jewellery collection. These handmade pieces are made from sterling silver, copper, brass and precious metals juxtaposed with pale pink, prey and blue resin pieces. The result is a bold but dedicate and highly sculptural aesthetic.
