Inside three Melbourne eateries to treat your sweet tooth
This Easter, why not plan a trip to an indulgent eatery that specialises in all things sweet? Here’s our pick of Melbourne destinations that were designed for the sweet-tooths among us, where the interiors are just as impressive as the menus.
Bibelot
Chez Dré may be located in a quiet alley in South Melbourne, but the frequent line out the front proves its popularity. Its new venture right next door, ‘Bibelot‘, is a European-inspired patisserie with intricately formed and packaged desserts, ice-creams and sorbets. The huge black-framed windows and expansive glass cabinets full of the day’s treats create an inviting space to stop a little while.
LuxBite
Luxbite on South Yarra’s Toorak Road is an intimate dessert house with a stylish fit out. The eclectic fusion of Asian flavours and traditional desserts is a match that cuts across all tastes, with offerings including bamboo oolong tea macarons, kopiko coffee candy and a salted caramel hot chocolate.
N2 Extreme Gelato
The latest trend in desserts is liquid nitrogen gelato. N2 Extreme Gelato in Fitzroy are experts at this and this technique allows you to watch your dessert transform from a liquid to solid gelato right in front of you, with lots of dramatic smoke. To give you an example of their creations, one of their flavours is peanut butter with pretzels, fresh cream and finished with a mini doughnut on top!
