The 2015 Pantone Colour of the Year
Designers from the interior, beauty and fashion worlds alike look to Pantone for future trend predictions. The company has just released its 2015 ‘Colour of the Year‘, the earthy, sensual and sophisticated ‘Marsala’.
The Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, says that the hearty but stylish tone is universally appealing and translates to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.
It’s a robust tone which takes its name from the fortified wine and just like the Sicilian beverage, it’s a full bodied, nurturing concoction that warms the soul.
So how can we add this colour to our home?
Eiseman says that it’s a natural fit for the kitchen and dining room – making it ideal for tabletop, small appliances and linens throughout the home. She suggests adding elegance to any room by incorporating the rich and welcoming hue in accent pieces, accessories and paint.
Marsala’s plush characteristics are enhanced when the colour is applied to textured surfaces, making it an ideal choice for rugs and upholstered living room furniture. For full impact, try painting a wall in this shade, or for a more subtle approach, invest in a plush velvet sofa in this colour or an occasional chair.
