Bernie Visits designEx
Over 300 top design companies filled the Sydney Convention Centre at Australia’s most comprehensive interior architecture and design event, to celebrate the very best in design innovation. Bernie shares her favourite finds.
Innovative Quartz Surfaces
By far my most exciting find was the CaesarStone Motivo™ surface on display. It is the world’s first quartz surface to incorporate sculpted pattern textures into the surface using exclusive, patented technology. Motivo surfaces are primarily designed for vertical surface applications in residential and commercial interiors such as wall cladding in foyers or bathrooms, feature panels, and kitchen and bathroom splashbacks. Motivo can also be used for custom made furniture surfaces. Available in Jet Black and Lace in Snow, this new surface is easy to maintain and comes with a 10 year limited warranty.
My second fabulous find at the exhibition was Ecosmart’s environmentally-friendly, flueless open fires fuelled by clean burning Denatured Ethanol – a renewable resource. The cylindrical shaped “tea light” fireplace is constructed from weather-resistant materials and is fully portable. Designed to make a dramatic statement in any outdoor setting, this Australian innovation requires minimal maintenance and is good for the environment.
Blu Box Fireplaces
With winter around the corner I decided I had to share with you Blu Box Fireplaces. No need for a chimney, fiddly gas connection or vent. Again clean burning Denatured Ethanol is used to create a lively burning flame. I love how you can bring the Blu Box home and place it in any room to generate heat and a lovely atmosphere.
