Industrial Celebrity Homes
Meg Ryan’s beach house is an excellent example of stylish modern industrial design. Soft grey walls create an air of tranquillity, and within the lounge area an industrial metal console table is perfectly paired with vintage furniture made of warm oak wood. A vintage metal sign in the dining room makes for an eye catching visual focal point, and industrial pendant lights are suspended through the home. Textiles are minimal, plain cream cushions sit on a grey sofa and exposed wooden beams gives the retreat a cool warehouse feel.
She is a movie star goddess and her husband is rock royalty, so when Gwyneth Paltrow relocated to Nashville for a film shoot a two bedroom loft was transformed into a comfortable modern space for her family to live in. The kitchen is sleek and contemporary – industrial silver pendant lights are suspended above a stainless steel metal island, and a large wooden triple-tiered stand filled with fruit is placed on the island to add warmth. The loft’s high walls are painted a pale grey which complement the comfy, neutral furniture in the living room. To soften the industrial space the designer has thrown a shaggy rug on the floor, added dimmer lights, and injected a splash of colour by painting a feature wall fuchsia. Understated luxury at its best!
