Our wrap of NY Now Tradeshow
NY NOW is one of the world’s leading tradeshows for home, lifestyle and handmade products. This year, from August 15th to 19th, more than 2,500 suppliers descended on New York City’s Javits Convention Center for a week of product discovery and networking.
Due to the sheer size of the tradeshow there’s always a broad range of furnishings, textiles, lighting, glassware and more, and last month’s event was no exception with a mix of established and emerging designers and manufacturers.
UK lighting brand Tom Dixon was there this year with its fabulous lava-like pendant lights while London-based Beyond Object exhibited its new Desktop Collection, with copper and brass also a focus for the range.
Chicago-based Christopher Gentner debuted his brass bowels, which look like delicate scrunched up pieces of paper. Meantime, Brooklyn-based Souda showcased its sculptural and industrial designs, strong in marble and gold-glaze.
In fact, across much of the show, geometric and sculptural items were a key theme, along with metallic and highly tactile materials.
