Summer home inspiration: Miranda Kerr’s Malibu home

Seeking a lifestyle change, Australian supermodel and businesswoman Miranda Kerr moved across America to start a new life in California. After nearly a decade in Manhattan, Kerr’s move to the east coast was to give herself and son Flynn ‘some space’, something difficult to find at times in New York.

Kerr’s $2 million, four-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom home is beachside in Malibu. Dreaming of a warm and inviting home reminiscent of her Australian childhood, Kerr created a vision board for the aesthetic of her home and worked with interior designer Nan Meltzer to bring her vision to life.

They begun major renovations, which included knocking out walls and extending the deck. With lashings of white, touches of sea-spray tones and plenty of natural light spilling out to reveal the Pacific Ocean, the result is a relaxed, beachside-chic home.

Kerr says it was important for her bedroom to be romantic and luxurious. The installation of a Hampshire bath with rose-quartz crystal certainly achieves this. The 32-year old can even see views of the Pacific Ocean from her shower!

The bedroom is complemented by a custom-made butterfly rug using natural materials, which matches the Damien Hirst artwork in the living room.

Also in the living room is a custom-made brass butterfly enclosure and a custom-made baby grand piano – an homage to Kerr’s grandmother who taught her to play.

Moving to the exterior of the 1960s home is a redwood deck that wraps the entire west side of the house. Meantime an Indonesian teak day-bed and a hammock provide perfect spaces to watch the sun go down.

Drawing on her spirituality, Kerr left nothing to chance, having had her home ‘feng-shuied’, blessed, doused, checked for electromagnetic fields and ‘saged’.
