The Kardashian family aren’t the type to shy away from the limelight, and their outfits are often even more bold than their personalities. So it’s no surprise that the big sister of the family, Kourtney, has styled her home to include a loud, but unsurprisingly stylish, combination of colour, texture and pattern.
Plenty of black and white anchor the home’s interior scheme, but it’s the bright colours used from room to room that really tie the home together. Many furniture pieces are vintage finds, an ode to the saying, ‘money can’t buy style’. Kourtney certainly knows that some of the best statement pieces are found ‘on the cheap’ by furrowing through vintage stores, or as they say in America ‘flea markets’. One of these pieces is the coffee table in the living room – what a match with the black and white theme!
The home’s designer, Jeff Andrews, says that Kourtney was adamant her home had an Alice-in-Wonderland air about it. And that it does, from the oversized black and white stripes on the living room walls to the play on size in the music room with adult and child sized pianos sitting side by side.
Many of the pieces are hand-me-downs from Kourtney’s parents, some of which she had upholstered or painted – another show of imagination and love for breathing new life into old furniture. Kourtney supposedly told Jeff that everything in the house must be ‘child friendly’ with no sharp edges. Her sense of practicality extends to her children’s rooms, where the Kardashian family’s surf boards – won at Teen Choice Awards – hang for the kids to play with. There’s certainly no preciousness in this household!
That’s not to say it doesn’t have its fair share of designer items. A Jonathan Adler chandelier takes centre-stage in the breakfast room, whilst a custom rug from Mansour Modern pulls the boho family room together and metal chairs from Lawson Fenning breathe a 60s vibe into the space. Meanwhile, Tom Dixon lights feature in the kitchen, whilst wallpaper by Osborne and Little adorns the master bedroom’s walls.
Kourtney says her favourite room in the house is her daughter Penelope’s bedroom which – apart from Jeff’s help with the wallpaper – she ‘did all by herself’! Take a look and see which your favourite room is in Kourtney Kardashian’s exquisite and colourful home…Read more
