The Design Edit: The Sydney Decoration & Design Exhibition
Staying up to date on the latest interior design trends is a big part of our job at Ferrari Interiors and in this article Bernie shares the most exciting and innovative products she found at the recent Sydney Decoration & Design Exhibition.
Lappish Style Reindeer Hides
Talented mother and daughter team, Aija Habermann and Bianca Ridings are the brains behind Lappish Style. They’ve brought a slice of their Finnish heritage to Australia with their beautiful reindeer hides. Not only are the hides luxurious, this product is also eco-friendly and sustainable. Lappish Style’s home fashion range includes authentic Lappish reindeer hides, cushions and ottomans.
If you love outdoor entertaining then Bernie recommends investing in a Kindle Heater. These were a marvellous find at the Decoration & Design Exhibition. Aesthetically pleasing and practical, these heaters come in five different styles and there are an array of accessories to choose from including; smooth shades, sandstone finish with black or white trim, programmable 7 colour lights, warm white lights, colour accent rings and a cocktail table in black or white that can be slipped over the stem of the heater.
Blofield Air Design Lounges
A brilliant furniture concept at the exhibit was Blofield Air Design Lounges – the world’s first brand focusing on air design. Inspired by the traditional Chesterfield, this inflatable lounge is comfortable and stylish. A perfect way to transform an event space – it comes with a custom electric pump so it can be inflated within minutes. Perfect for indoor and outdoor spaces, you can pop these lounges on the beach, a pool deck or in an office. The Blofield Chesterfield range includes: single armchairs and two-seat couches in stone white, red and black. A sweet baby Chesterfield single armchair for children is also available in pink, blue and stone white.
The Ziga Rug collection was also a standout, made with the finest raw materials such as Tibetan wool and natural hemp farmed in the villages of Nepal. The attention to detail and quality of these rugs is truly exceptional. Primarily produced using a traditional Tibetan style of rug weaving, there are a wide range of patterns and colours to choose from including granite, slate and cubism collections.
Turquoise ceramics by MRD
Turquoise is a popular colour trend this year and MRD’s range of turquoise ceramics is to die for. Indeed respected UK designer, Abigail Ahern selected MRD’s Aporto Ceramic range as one of her favourites for Australian House and Garden magazine.
Must have winter indulgence – Cashllama™
So, what is Cashllama™? It’s a new luxury textile made of 100% llama fibre made in an innovative factory high atop the Bolivian Andes. Local artisans discovered that de-hairing the softest and finest inner fleece of the llama yielded beautiful fibres. As a result this new textile is softer than cashmere, warmer than wool because it has a hollow fibre and less likely to pill. We recommend snapping up one of these gorgeous throw rugs and cosying up on the couch with it this winter.
