Inside the home of Camilla Freeman-Topper

May 22, 2022

The creative director of Australia's women's-wear label Camilla and Marc, Camilla Freeman-Topper, not only has an eye for fashion, but also an eye for interior design. Today we take a look inside Camilla's elegant 1930's Bellevue Hill home in Sydney.According to Architectural Digest when Camilla saw the home she called her husband home from a business trip early and stated “There was something about it—the late morning light that was sort of seeping through the arches. It was reminiscent of Chateau Marmont, and had moments that felt really special,” she recalls of the way the 1930s six-bedroom house romanced them. “I think people had put it into the too-hard basket, but a project like that for me is extraordinarily exciting.”The designer took a patient approach rather than jumping in to renovations. Architectural Digest states that the family of five lived in the home as is for a year to get a feel for the house. Camilla states “The ideas and concepts we had when we bought it, before we moved in, changed completely once we lived in it for a while, the rhythm of the house and its energy were really important to understand.”The renovations took two years, and required some major excavation, like creating an underground garage to make room for their pool that purposefully receives daylight throughout the entire day. She worked together with interior designer, Romaine Alwill of Alwill Interiors to create a space that evoked an "overarching sense of calm and warmth."She incorporated pops of colour in each of her kids bathrooms "to be like it's own box of macarons", using mint, coral pink for her daughters, and dove grey for her son.According to news.com.au, the elegantly renovated home was recently sold off market for $17 million.Take a peek inside with us...
