Glamorous camping (now known as 'glamping') and a high rise building in one of the world's largest cities hardly seem like a compatible fit. One tends to think of country fields and beachside plains when dreaming of camping getaways, not Melbourne's CBD.But there's a new initiative challenging the common perception of what glamping is all about. St Jerome's - The Hotel is a luxury accommodation on the rooftop of Melbourne Central, and just like all good hype-building initiatives, it's for a limited time only. The 'rooms' at St Jerome's feature Homecamp (a recent Melbourne-based start up) canvas bell tents and come with those little luxuries associated with world-class hotels. There's a 24 hour concierge service, free Tai Chi and meditation classes each morning (imagine that city view!), breakfast hampers, afternoon tea from Cupcake Central and luxury bathrooms.Meantime, MOR Cosmetics founder Deon St. Mor set the creative direction and fit out of this unique accommodation experience and Melbourne's LINEN HOUSE provided all the bedding, towels, sheets, quilt cover sets, cushions, throws and robes.Does the name sound familiar? St. Jerome’s - The Hotel is the brainchild of Jerome Borazio who started Melbourne's St Jerome's bar and the St Jerome's Laneway Festival, which has now expanded to Singapore.St. Jerome’s – The Hotel officially opened to the public on 20 May 2015 and is open until late July.Perhaps this is the 'staycation' us Melbournites have been waiting for...Take a look...
