I’m loving that ‘Succession’ is back on TV screens, sadly for it's final season. I enjoy the show not only for its addictive drama, but also for the dreamy aesthetics. The interiors featured in show are absolutely stunning and reflect the lifestyle of the top 0.1% of the world’s wealthy. The type of people who are so accustomed to luxury that they are almost bored with it.
Here are some aspects that contribute to the stylish look of the interiors:
Particularly in cities such as New York where space is at a premium, family’s wealth is characterized by clean lines, simple shapes, and a lack of clutter as it creates both a sense of order and sophistication. A jaw dropping view also helps! Below is an image from the apartment used for Kendall in Season 4. It is currently on the market for USD$29 Million.
The use of high-quality materials such as marble, brass, and velvet adds to the luxurious feel of the interiors. These materials also reflect the wealth and status of the Roy family.
The interiors often feature neutral colours such as white, grey, and beige. The characters wardrobes are similar in this regard, as the colours used are elegant and understated (and very luxurious!)
The interiors are often punctuated with statement pieces such as architectural features, bold artwork, or unique furniture. These pieces add interest and personality to the spaces.
The interiors are meticulously designed and decorated, with attention paid to every detail, from the placement of objects on shelves to the selection of throw pillows. This creates a sense of refinement and elegance that is characteristic of high-end interior design. An example of this is from the image below, where the lumbar cushions on the chairs match the fabric of the sofa.
Overall, the interiors in "Succession" are a feast for the eyes reflecting the opulence and sophistication of the show's characters and their lifestyle.
